Lost in Time

Nothing could help me feel better than
taking a warm bath after a heavy workout.
I was listening to music and having a relaxing moment
when I thought that I had to share this song,
which has been haunting me all day, with you all.

Although its lyric is short,
the melody is so wonderful that it would urge you
to keep on raping the replay button.
I'm seriously hooked to it now.
Be strong if you don't want it to dig deeper into your mind!

By the way, Nick Davis is a Malaysian.

Meanwhile, follow me in Instagram :)
Link to my Instagram.

Leave approved!

I actually typed something and I was ready to post it
before it all went haywire and disarranged by itself.
I'm tired and I'm not going to retype it now.

Just want to say that the principal already approved
my leave for Qing Ming festival this afternoon.
For those who don't know what Qing Ming is,
it's also known as Ancestor day, it's a day where
Chinese go to the graves of the departed ones
and pay respect to them.
By the way, I initially thought that I had no hope for the leave
because I still didn't get any reply from AirAsia captains
so many days after I email them.

The last time I went home was during Chinese New Year
and its like very long ago, so I'm going to enjoy this short break.
If time permits, I wish I could also go to
the 5th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Festival
which will be held from the 28th to 31st of  March in Putrajaya.
I actually went there last time and it was fun.
Just hope that it'll be more interesting this year
and more importantly is that I could practice my photography skills
with those things which I really like :)

Ah Boys to Men

The theme song

Official trailer!

Recruit's anthem, composed and sang by Tosh Zhang,
is actually the theme song for the Jack Neo's latest movie, "Ah Boys to Men".
The movie is meant to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Singapore's National Service
and I would say that it's definitely one of the best movies that I have watched.
The main plot actually revolves around a group of young recruits
who are training to be a soldier in National Service in Singapore.

The film consists of two parts, the first part was released earlier in 2012
while the second part was released this year where
I think it's still being shown at cinemas now.

I just don't know why but I'm actually having a strong feeling about this song
even though I have never been to national service or any other training
other than scout activities in my own country.

Just thought to share it with you all, oh yeah,
Tosh Zhang is one of the casts of the movie :)

CCN

So I went to USMKK with the other boys from APFT
for their Chinese Cultural Night (CCN) yesterday night.
The title of the show was Enchantment. I'm not sure
why they named it so but it was indeed a wonderful show
organized by the first and second year students from Health Campus.

I actually took some photos and posted them all on Facebook
but I had just never thought that Tanker would help me to tag them
and bring so much traffic to my Facebook in one day.
Just hope that they like my photos. I'm not a pro photographer anyway.

Last but not least, I must not forget to thank Avan
for inviting me to the show. I pretty enjoyed it :)

Impressive and unique Peacock Dance
The Butterfly Dance. It's truly a regret that my seat and photography skills
didn't allow me to take a better photo.

New layout.

Just thought that I could probably have a new layout as well
after changing the background music for this blog.
The outcome is quite satisfying though :)
Anyway, frankly speaking, I had never heard of this song
before the website recommended it to me.

Drop me some comments.

The management of the flying academy is planning to
send us back to the ground school for Phase 3.
The reason is that they have no enough
human resources and aircraft to keep us going at the hangar.
I'm actually understanding and okay with it
because we had been being kicked around since the very first day.
Just hope that we all can graduate with no any major problems from now.

Beef.

Was happily having Tomyam Campur
until I found beef in the soup.

Feeling so guilty right now.
I find myself leave Buddha further
every time after I decide to go nearer to him.

不知者不罪

Dream.

I actually planned to have an early night today
until I found this video on Facebook.
I just thought I must write something about this because
watching this video just gave me some goosebumps.
At the age of twenty-one, I think it's time to ponder about
the direction and life satisfaction to avoid the so called
"quarter-life crisis". Growing up is a must.
I'm not saying that I'm damn confused at the moment
but something just made me realise that I don't have a very clear goal.

SHING KANG! You always say that you want to be a good pilot
and you always believe that you would become one someday
until you look at your training or job now and realise that
it's not even close to what you thought you'd be doing.
Anyway, do not be afraid even though you have to start from the very bottom.
Be certain of your passions then you should be able to survive.

What you need to do now is to:
Pass all papers!
Improve your flying skills

Forgotten

Things get hard when everyone has their own opinions,
tongues will begin to wag (I'm also starting to gossip :P)
but still I insist that the gun should be pointed out at all events.
We'll get though all these shits and get back to the track soon.
No worries, mates, although it seems like we have been forgotten.

Just saying, in fact, I easily get mad when I find people are not complying
or doing as per instruction or rule which has been given or set
yet I know I'm nobody to tell them not to do so.

A lot of plans have been ruined back then,
I'm a bit tired now but will never give up.

Upset.

Things are not going so well at the hangar recently.
Now I could feel the pain of other cadets
when we only clock a few hours a month now like what they do.

Circuit full is not my problem.
CGI said there're 5 elements to make a flight,
1. Student him/herself
2. Instructor available
3. Serviceable aircraft
4. Slot and traffic
5. Favourable weather

The first requirement is always met,
how about the other four?

Long time tak EMO?

The weather's like playing with us.
I must say that we have no luck at all.
A lot of sorties have been cancelled
due to several reasons, for examples,
low cloud base, strong wind and rain,
not to say those sorties which were also burned
because of incorrect programming, unserviceable aircraft
and absence of instructors.
Our progress is getting slower now until
we're unsure of the promise which the academy has given us
that we could graduate within 18 to 20 months.
Anyway, we already reported to the company and the academy,
hopefully they will come up with a good solution.

I'm not crushing on anyone but
I do hope that I have someone to talk to.

Full power Right rudder

This morning, I told Adam that I was interested
to make my blog to become a website which could provide
more information about aviation and piloting to those aviation enthusiasts.
In fact, I have been doing this since last year if you remember that
I came up with some ideas about this in one of my posts last year.
However, just as I expected, this has never been succeeded since
I'm still considered a newbie in this field and I don't have enough time
to do so after completing my training every day.
I must apologize to my readers out there,
if I have one, for disappointing you.

Today, I'll start it over again.
I'll be sharing some basic theories of aerodynamics with you here.
For your information, a left turning tendency of an aircraft is made up
of four elements which cause or produce a rotating motion around
at least one of the airplane's axes. These four elements are:
1. Torque from engine and propeller.
2. Slipstream effect of the propeller
3. Gyroscopic effect of the propeller
4. Asymmetric loading of the propeller (P-factor)

1. Torque from engine and propeller
  • This involves the Third Law of Newton's which is there's an opposite and equal reaction for every force. To cur it short, for example, if the propeller is rotating in clockwise direction(turning right), there'd be a force, which we call it torque, acting in the opposite direction(turning left) and causing the aircraft to yaw to the left
2. Slipstream effect of the propeller
  • When the propeller is rotating in high speeds, it gives a compact corkscrew or spiraling rotation to the slipstream and exerts a strong sideward force on the aircraft's vertical tail surface.
  • When the slipstream strikes the vertical fin on the left, it causes a left turning moment about the aircraft's vertical axis. Besides, the slipstream also causes a rolling moment around the longitudinal axis.
3. Gyroscopic effect of the propeller
  • The rotating propeller has very good gyroscopic properties. Any time a force is applied to deflect the propeller, the resulting force is 90 degrees ahead of and in the direction of rotation and in the rotation of application, causing a pitching and yawing moment, or a combination of two depending on the point at which the force was applied.
  • When the aircraft takes off, the pitch up attitude will apply a force to the top of the propeller, causing a yawing moment to the left. Just google Gyroscope to know about details about it.
4. P-factor
  • I was asked this question by my flying instructor the other day, thanks god I could answer a bit although it's not perfectly correct.
  • P-factor is an aerodynamic effect experienced by a moving propeller which is responsible for asymmetrical relocation of the thrust line of the propeller at a high angle of attack.
  • Basically, the moving down propeller blades have a higher wind velocity thus higher thrust than the moving up propeller blades. As a result, for a clockwise turning propeller, the aircraft thrust line is more towards to the left of the aircraft and it causes the tendency of yawing to the left. How about anticlockwise turning propeller? Draw it out then you'll know how it actually works.

So the combination of all these forces will actually cause a great left turning force for a PROPELLER aircraft,
that's why we are always told to kick right rudder while taking off so that we could maintain centreline and our flight path. Well, for those who don't know about aircraft, this's actually not scary at all but the design of the aircraft, have faith in the pilots because they are well-trained for handling the aircraft before they get on board. Cheers :)

Do drop me some comments.

Acknowledge

For me, there's actually nothing wrong
if someone, who really does better than I do,
speaks loud to me or laugh at me because
I will certainly acknowledge them with respect.
That's how we support each other and
help each other to develop confidence.
However, I'll keep on reminding myself to
give blessing and share joy with friends
but not to stab them in their backs.

The weather is not so favourable to fly recently.
I'm waiting for my slot to do my second solo flight.
Thanks to APAC08. Of course, it would be nice
if I can go for General Handling solo flight also.
I'm not sure if I should have asked him to clear me for that
but I feel blessed and satisfied after flying with him.

Can't do anything except praying for our people in Sabah.
