Problem?

"This used to be very glamorous profession, not anymore the pilots pay has been slashed and they have to stay in the airport to board the next flight if they want to relax they can sleep on operation desk pad and have go for screening and pass the security check like other passengers."

I found the statement above on the internet by chance,
making me wish to share something with all my friends there.
Well, for your information, flying as a career has been said
to be the most stressful job.

Actually it's nothing but about the pilot's ultimate responsibilities
and the personal sacrifices which the pilot needs to make
for the safety of his/her passengers and/or cargo.
For example, constant training and evaluation,
constant drug and alcohol testing, background checks,
difficult hours, long days and huge liability.

What I mean with constant training and evaluations is a pilot needs to do
a lot of proficiency checks and recurrent training every year.
The syllabus involves all knowledge that you must know for flying,
for examples, standard operating procedures, safety emergency procedures,
aircraft operations, crew recources management, base checks, line checks
and a lot more things which I also don't know at the moment.
Beside, a pilot needs to do a medical checkup every year to make sure
that he/she is fit to fly as required by the air law.
Seriously, failing these checks can be an end to your airline pilot career.

Now you still doubt why the pilots deserve such a high pay?

Anyway, not to depress the others, what I'm trying to say is,
I know there are many aviation/aircraft enthusiasts outside,
but it's actually unnecessary for everyone to become a pilot,
yet once you are determined and you really strongly believe that
you belong to the skies, then please do your best for it.
"Work hard and you will get it", this, which I could not agree more,
was directly copied from my principal at flying academy.

Flying is not easy unless you are well-prepared for it.
Sometimes, I just don't have any feelings when someone tells me that
he/she wants to be a pilot but he/she is not doing anything in fact.

"Good luck."
"Triumph in the skies."
Both dramas talk about the life as a commercial pilot.
I believe this is where most of the enthusiasts' motivation comes from.
Me too. To be frank, the dramas are touching, but the storyline is a bit fake.
I remember what Capt. Khoo said during my interview,  it's -
don't watch too much dramas, Edison :P
